Roman Vícha

Was born in Ostrava on July 1 st, 1979. He comes from musical family and he is the third generation of drummers in his family. He has been dedicated to the drums since he was thirteen years old. He studied at the Janacek Conservatory in Ostrava. In 1999 he moved to Prague. He received his degree from the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory and then also VOŠ with a concentration on jazz studies. His energetic, brisk, all-round and flexible style of touch covers wide broad-spectrum of music styles from groove, jazz through blues, bigbeat, pop, jungle and hip hop. He is also an experienced studio player. He has played with Soil, Muff, Bucinatores tentet, David Dorůžka, Matej Benko, Beata Hlavenková, Karel Růžička, Vojta Procházka, Zuzana Dumková, Katka Šarközi, Pavel Wlosok(USA), Brian Seeger(USA), Casandra Faulconer(CAN), Mike Baggetta(USA), Chris Jennings(CAN), Demian Cabaud(ARG), Tannya Kalmanivitch(CAN), Grzegorz Karnas(PL), Nude Ants Theater, Gustav Brom Big Band. In October 2005 Roman won Czech competition Junior Jazz 2005 as “The group of the year” with Beata Hlavenková trio.

Roman performs with the following bands: Nuo, Toxique, Face of the bass, Bucinatores, Stability, Gumbo and Yvonne Sanchez group.
When he was younger he was influenced by Jeff Porcaro and Simon Phillips and now his influences also include musicians such as Jeff Ballard, Bill Stewart, Brian Blade, John Bonham, Joye Baron, Adam Deitch, Billy Martin, Stanton Moore, Kenny Wollesen, Mark Guiliana.
